We love Barrett Alley not just for the gorgeous leather and meticulous craftsmanship, but also for the little things that count: antique fabric linings, vintage findings, and a thorough commitment to conscious consumerism. We caught up with Barrett to ask a little bit more about his history and the integrity he stakes his work on.
RYE & RIVET: When and how did you start creating your products?
BARRETT ALLEY: I started research and development in 2008 and launched the line in 2010.
R&R: What three words would you use to describe your brand’s ideology?
BA: Design, durability, integrity.
R&R: What does “Integrity” mean to you in terms of modern production?
BA: Integrity here could mean transparency - giving customers a clear window to see exactly how and why everything is made, and giving all information possible to understand the global impact of the purchase.
R&R: Who is an inspirational icon for you at the moment?
BA: I really like what the brands Kapital, Henry Cuir and Mister Freedom are doing right now.
R&R: What’s your drink of choice?
BA: Green jasmine tea.
